This is where the three Fox sisters: Kate, Margaretta and Leah Fox lived. They themselves are controversial figures and you will find plenty on the internet about them. However their home in 1848 is generally considered the starting point for our movement and religion of Spiritualism.
The site is owned by the National Spiritualist Association of Churches, an American organisation of spiritualism.
The location was a two hour drive from Buffalo which is the second largest city in New York State or about an hour drive from Rochester a smaller city.
We thought that we had arranged to meet the curator who we have communicated with by email but there was a mix up and we did not get to meet her. Her position is I think voluntary and she was at work when we arrived but she did offer to meet with us again if we were in the area but as it was a four hour round trip for us we had to decline.
The site itself as you can see from the video is very well kept and very beautiful. Unfortunately on two sides it is bordered by roads one of which by American standards is quit busy, but by UK standards very quiet! There is also a very busy rail track near by and this is where most of the background noise in the video comes from.
