How are your New Year Resolutions ?

How are our New Year Resolutions?  When we stuck a stamp on the Christmas cards we were full of good intentions that we wouldn’t leave it for another year before we got in touch with distant friends. Maybe when we received their cards wishing us joy, happy memories were recalled and did us the power of good.

But why do we only get in touch once a year? One of the joys of modern technology is the opportunity to speedily contact friends at a great distance.  We can have instant contact on the internet and can even speak face to face with friends if we have the right equipment.

We can often feel depressed and discouraged at this time of year and it uplifts our hearts and gives comfort to share a word or two with friends. We can get in touch by writing or phoning, meeting for a coffee, or just spending some time with people we don’t see too often. There is comfort in the awareness that others are thinking of us, remembering and sharing our sorrows as well as our joys.

“A man,” said Dr Johnson, “should keep his friendships in constant repair” Appreciating our friends and telling them so is very important. When the church reopens in the New Year, our first services are always very busy and it is obvious from the conversations that we have missed our friends. But we do need to keep working at friendships and not taking them or our church for granted. Often people turn to the church in time of need and distress and will begin their conversation by saying, “well I haven’t been here for some time and I’m glad you are still here.”

We are still here because we do not take our church for granted but work very hard to keep it in a state of good repair. So although we were closed over the festive period ,work continued behind the scenes, updates were made on the internet and library, mediums were reminded of bookings, regular visits were made to the church to check for phone messages and  to give access to workmen for necessary repairs and safety checks. A few dedicated members also cleaned the building and made sure it was welcoming for our reopening on the 8th of January. So a word of appreciation is in order for all seen and unseen workers.

In a world where envy and jealousy are far too common, keeping in touch can do a lot of good so let’s give a thought for the welfare of the Church. There is an exciting programme planned for 2012 but it will need support and help to make it work. Remember as we give so we receive, so do visit on a regular basis.  We cannot take it for granted that the church will always be here for us in our time of need, unless we work to keep the doors open !

About Us

We are a Christian Spiritualist Church providing evidence of life beyond physical death through the gifts of Spirit communication: mediumship, healing and philosophy. We believe these gifts help bring us (and others) closer to the teaching of Jesus Christ and provide us with strength and guidance to live our lives by His example.

Life after Death:

We believe that whilst the physical body dies and all physical matter returns to earth, the Spirit body, survives death and continues onwards. This knowledge is at the core of Spiritualism.

Through Spirit communication with Church mediums we are given evidence, unique for ourselves, if we want to hear it, that our loved ones thrive in Spirit and continue to bestow their love upon us. Our Church services demonstrate that life after death is not a vague hope or promise, but a sure and certain fact.

Church Principles:

Our Church is guided by Seven Principles:

1. The Fatherhood of God.
2. The Leadership of Christ & the Brotherhood of Man.
3. The Communion of Spirits & the Ministry of Angels.
4. The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul.
5. Personal Responsibility.
6. Compensation and Retribution hereafter for all the good and evil deeds done on earth.
7. Eternal Progress open to every soul.

With individual liberty of interpretation.

Our work:

The Church provides weekly services of mediumship, meditation and healing: click here for information.

The Church provides (limited) opportunities for individuals to arrange private sittings with Church mediums: click here for  information.

We also provide naming, funeral and wedding services for members.

Our Church is in association with the Spiritualists' National Union.

Seeking Answers:

We recognise that people come along to our Church for many different reasons: some due to bereavement, some to seek communication with loved ones in Spirit, others simply curious...
As an open, friendly Church we welcome all visitors, irrespective of faith/ lack of faith or philosophical perspective, to our services. Members of the Church Committee are always willing to answer questions about Spiritualism and any queries folk may have about the Church. Come along and feel free to ask.
