President's Newsletter, Autumn 2010Hello and Welcome
to our new members’ area. Even after a professional lifetime in education as a teacher and lecturer I have learnt more about good communication in Spiritualism. However communication in the digital age is still a new experience: technology is changing so rapidly. From time to time this page will introduce you to some of the office bearers, Committee and Members of the Church as well as keeping you up to date with activities and events in the life of our Church. Hopefully this will also help Members who cannot manage to attend services. This summer has been a busy period with many visitors, some new but some making an annual visit from south of the border and from Sweden and Denmark. We were also able to welcome Bettina from Hamburg who spent several days with us and managed to attend a variety of services as well as sampling a few Scottish delicacies. The visiting was not all one way, services were undertaken by Church mediums in a number of locations including Canada and England. Once again we must thank our friends in Stirling for giving our developing mediums an opportunity to work in this very welcoming church. Two of our Members were married in the Church in July and you can see from their photographs opposite that it was a very colourful as well as an enjoyable event, due in no small part to the Church ladies who organised a finger buffet for the wedding reception. So we all wish Mark and Ying a very happy future together. Three loved ones made their return to spirit during this period and will be missed by all here so our prayers go to Len, Pat and Mum Small as they continue their journey and we send our love to their families and friends. Although weather wise, summer seems to have ended, a number of the Committee are still trying to fit in holidays before the autumn programme begins. As everyone in the church is a volunteer it has been a remarkable feat to remain open during July and August with no disruption to advertised services. Unfortunately we were not able to offer private sittings but they recommence at the end of September. So a very big thank you to everyone who helps to keep the doors open and provide a welcome for all our visitors. If you have attempted to contact us and left messages on the answer machine do be assured we try to respond to all and help if we can. However if you have left the wrong phone number there is very little we can do so if you haven’t had a return call after a week please do try again, making allowances for the fact that as volunteers we also cannot respond as speedily as you might wish. Please read our events page as there is always something happening in the Church. Look forward to seeing you in the future. June Herraghty BA, MSc. President and Minister |
