President's Newsletter - Spring 2011It is very pleasant to be writing this Newsletter in sunshine so I guess spring has sprung and the change in the weather is welcome. But listening to the hoarse voices and racking coughs in the church there is a little lingering reminder of winter. The past few months have hit the senior members of the congregation particularly hard not just in health terms but with problems trying to come to church.
For these members the telephone is still a wonderful invention as they like to hear a voice they know and not all our members have computers. (Computers can be a luxury for some and a necessity for others). Both enable us to keep in touch however and that is the most important thing. Not being able to come to Services is a real heartache for members who really need to feel the love and healing in the church in times of distress. So do remember friends who are in ill health and make sure their names are on the Healing List so prayers can be offered or if you can provide the occasional lift that would help as well. It has been a busy time with our AGM and welcoming new Committee Members. It is very reassuring that we have people who do wish to go that extra mile to help others. I would, however like to thanks those who have left the Committee. Avril Johnston– Craig before leaving us for Australia did sterling work on helping to set up our website sharing her expertise with great enthusiasm. We were also very sad to lose one of our very faithful and long serving members when Isobel Green decided that due to ill health and transport difficulties she felt she could no longer serve on the Committee. Isobel has been a member of the church for 17 years and has served in so many capacities. She is a very fine Healer and has helped many through this wonderful gift. She has always been keen to share her knowledge of Spiritualism and has made time to help others with their development In recent years despite of her own major health problems, arising from less than successful surgery, she still managed to attend services and with Jean Balfour organised tasty buffets for special events. I know Isobel’s dedication is greatly missed. During a recent visit to her home Isobel sent her good wishes to everyone and I’m sure many will join me in wishing her better health in the future. We have a number of new events to add to our very busy calendar. One has already taken place, as the first of our Open Clairvoyant Circles conducted by Bernice took place on the first Thursday in April and proved very popular with a large attendance. We look forward to those in May and June. We are also planning a Bring and Buy Coffee Morning in May so watch for the date and I hope to welcome you as you come along to buy or donate goodies.
